Tatko’s Stories
During the Nazi occupation, from 1942 to 1945, Andrei Kelemen was interned in several forced labor camps in Tatra Montains. The story below takes place in 1944, while the Nazis, with their Hungarian Allies were retreating from occupied territories. Tomica was a friend of his from Budapest.
After Romania’s liberation, during the Communist Era, Andrei Kelemen, by then a very respected medical professional, specializing in Preventive Medicine, was accused of treason by some of his communist party cell members. The story below, reiterates the absurd “trial” and typical “comrade verbiage” of the time.
I received this story from Andrei Kelemen, in 2004, with the following dedication
I want to dedicate this important moment of my life to my beloved wife, Ibi , my sisters (Sali, Piri, Gizi, Ibi si Rozsi) and my dear children (Estera , Matei si Mariana)
